Deniz is a strategic designer helping organizations think clearly, move deliberately, and build things that last.

01 / About

I'm a strategic designer with ten years of experience leading projects across spatial, digital, organizational and learning design.

I've grown from senior designer to Head of Design Strategy, shaping direction, facilitating alignment and building the narratives that move organizations forward.

My work sits at the intersection of business strategy and design practice, spanning spatial, digital and organizational challenges across sectors.

Alongside client work, I have taught strategic design at Elisava, Rotterdam School of Management and Istanbul Bilgi University. My projects have been recognized by the iF Design Awards, World Architecture Awards and Core77.

Based in Zürich. Available globally.
02 / Services

I work across three interconnected disciplines, always strategy-first and grounded in what your organization actually needs.

01

Strategic Design

I help organizations define where they're going, and how design supports that direction.

Through research, synthesis and structured workshops, I translate business ambition into clear positioning, well-defined opportunity spaces and principles that guide execution. This work is especially valuable when you're scaling and losing clarity, when your brand no longer reflects your strategy, or when teams are pulling in different directions.

Outcomes:
  • Clear strategic positioning
  • Defined value proposition
  • Prioritized opportunity areas
  • Design principles your team can act on
  • A roadmap leadership can get behind
02

Creative Direction

I provide creative direction grounded in strategy and not just aesthetics.

From spatial to digital to learning environments, I ensure that narrative, experience and visual language consistently reflect the strategic intent. I work as a thinking partner for creative teams and a confident voice in front of clients and boards.

Outcomes:
  • Strong conceptual clarity
  • Cohesive storytelling across touchpoints
  • Confident stakeholder buy-in
  • Elevated creative standards with fewer revision cycles
03

Facilitation

It’s all fun and games with post-its until you leave the room with no meaningful progress.

With experience in facilitation training and teaching at graduate level, I build structured environments where complexity becomes actionable. I work with leadership teams, cross-functional groups and community stakeholders on everything from vision building to innovation labs to organizational alignment.

Outcomes:
  • Faster, more confident decision-making
  • Cross-functional alignment
  • Clear next steps with shared ownership
  • Momentum that carries beyond the session

What would common spaces look like if we designed cities around human connection?

Futures concepting

A client building the next generation of urban destinations asked us to rethink what common spaces could become. Over a 20-week collaboration spanning three partner organizations, we developed ten distinct community hub concepts — each designed across architecture, experience, community and business dimensions.

Scope: Futures concepting, experience strategy, spatial strategy
02

How does a cultural institution reinvent itself — and make the case for why it still matters?

Strategic repositioning

A post-Expo landmark in Dubai needed to reclaim its relevance after the crowds had moved on. Over 12 weeks, we developed a repositioning strategy that reframed the organization's core purpose, defined a new commercial model, and built the case for government and private sector partnership to establish a permanent and meaningful role in the city.

Scope: Strategic repositioning, business model design
03

What if a heritage neighborhood could anchor an entire creative economy?

Narrative building

A national cultural institution commissioned a holistic strategy for a heritage neighborhood in the heart of Doha; activating underused heritage buildings, attracting creative communities and establishing it as a cultural destination where the creative economy could take root. We worked across value proposition, guest experience, urban wayfinding and business design. The framework was built to scale across other heritage sites nationwide.

Scope: Narrative building, experience strategy, spatial strategy
04

What if the most trusted brand in your home became the backbone of how you live in it?

User research

A leading consumer appliances brand wanted to leverage its after-sales assets to build new revenue streams — shifting from selling products to owning the home experience. The platform launched as a live product and has since scaled to over 3.3 million downloads, consistently maintaining a Top 5 ranking in the App Store's Lifestyle category.

Scope: User research, experience strategy, UX/UI design
05

What does a space need to feel like, to make people do their best work?

User research & synthesis

A leading innovation accelerator asked us to redesign its 1,200m² workspace. I supported this iF Design Award-winning project through field research spanning user interviews, stakeholder sessions and co-design workshops to surface spatial and psychosocial needs and translate them into design principles to guide the architectural work.

Scope: User research & synthesis, spatial strategy
06

What comes after design thinking?

Writing / Fast Company

Design thinking shaped how organizations approach problem-solving for a decade. In this piece published in Fast Company, I argue that the methodology — built for a different era — is no longer equipped for the complexity of today's challenges. The alternative: thinking in communities, and designing systems that prioritize relationships, collective action and regenerative impact.

04 / Why?

Why work with me?

*

Senior thinking, without studio overhead.

You work directly with me and get senior strategic leadership at a fraction of the cost of a studio engagement.

*

Clarity in the age of AI noise.

There's a lot of AI slop out there; fast, cheap, and not particularly useful. I help teams cut through the noise, and navigate the daunting AI era.

*

A trusted, no-BS collaborator.

I care about the human relationships as much as the work — and I'll tell you what I actually think over what you might want to hear.

*

A strong generalist with an excellent track record.

I move fluidly across product, service and systems design. I've consistently received great feedback, most recently that "she comes in with what feels like a fairy wand" 🧚🧿
